Here’s what my colleagues say about me……
I have known Rita Barnett in a professional capacity since she first commenced work in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.
Over the years I’ve observed Rita remain focused on helping clients reduce their distress, increase their skills in relating to self and others, and mature in their capacity to live life fully. She does this by grounding herself in the facts of a situation, by communicating clearly what she is able to offer the therapeutic relationship, and by building trust through her reliability, her attention to detail, her collaborative approach, and her commitment to doing what’s effective.
Rita works with individuals, couples and groups in relation to both traumatic and everyday life issues. In order to meet the challenges that naturally arise in this work, like most practitioners Rita regularly undertakes professional training courses and clinical supervision. Additionally, her background in tertiary level teaching gives her an edge in communicating effectively to help business people improve their levels of satisfaction with, and influence on, their work environments.
Furthermore, Rita’s life experience has contributed much to her empathic, practical approach and to her rich sense of humour.
I am happy to recommend Rita as a counsellor and psychotherapist to anyone needing psychological and emotional support to achieve their desired quality of life. Gabriela den Hollander – BSSc.; M.Gest. Therapy, Supervisor, Counsellor and Psychotherapist
I have known Rita for years — since we were students in counselling college. I have always found her to be very caring, supportive, open and honest. Rita is a great listener who thinks deeply about what’s happening in both our internal and external worlds.
Sometimes Rita will query me about a particular view I hold. She makes me think about how I got to this position, why I’m stuck in this stance and how I might need to change something, like my attitude, my behaviour, or my use of words. I never feel judged by Rita, just nudged, so I begin to look at myself, my thoughts and my actions. Richard Walker – Family Mediator
I am very confident in recommending Rita as your therapist. She is kind, empathic and highly committed to providing a professional yet personal service to every person she works with. She has vast experience and always practice with the highest standards and ethics.
In addition to that, she is just a really lovely human being who has made it her mission to hold the space for people to process and transform their pain and challenges. What a gift that is for anyone going through a difficult time of their life. Gitte Backhausen – Peer Supervision Colleague
When I first met Rita, I was immediately struck by her genuine interest in people and her caring attitude towards those in her presence. Her professional, yet calming nature radiates, and can be relied upon to soothe even the most difficult of circumstance. Rita was particular helpful to me when recently discussing a family illness. A sense of harmony and mindful practices are the compelling qualities that Rita demonstrates every day. Jacqui Williams – Co-Owner of Broadmeadow Serviced Offices
